Color Cohesion

I was really drawn to the images here that accompanied an interview of model Rita Ota for I Love You Magazine. The color palette of the images was striking and the light salmon and soft blue were repeated through different locations (a bluish shadow, the staircase, salmon colored shoes on the billboard) that made the four images very cohesive. Tying the images together through the soft color and tone resulted in this captivating and beautifully modest shoot.

One Direction for Wonderland

Anyone care to explain why boy band One Direction is on the cover of the November/December Obsessed Issue of Wonderland Magazine? Is it ironic? Earnest?  Are they the "right" selection for the Wonderland demographic? Are the editors simply commenting on a cultural trend? Thoughts?

Cass Bird for Vogue Korea

Photographer Cass Bird nails it again in her shoot 'Urban Renewal' for the November 2012 issue of Vogue Korea. Her mix of studio (white and black backgrounds) and location images integrate seamlessly into one cohesively styled and imaged editorial. Bird captures her model muse in a variety of poses that could easily be separated into different shoots (serious, candid, funny, sculptural) yet still feel like one very tight selection of images, which only adds another dimension of variety to the shoot.

Music Video Visual Inspiration

Today I came across the newest music video by Alicia Keys 'Girl on Fire'. I think every visual aspect comes together perfectly in this video; light, set design, wardrobe, hair/makeup. The stylized lighting was refreshing and I really liked how every different scene was a carefully crafted tableau. Keys wearing a beautiful turquoise dress and neon pumps against red and white wallpaper was the stand-out shot for me. I could very easily imagine taking the best moment from each individual tableau and making a great editorial from it. Which music videos do you find visually inspiring?
