John Galliano Spring 2011

I love the theatricality of John Galliano's shows and that combined with the amazing fashion and originality of his pieces make for one of the shows that I always look forward to seeing the most every season. They are pure entertainment for those who aren't really involved in the fashion industry and for everyone who is involved, they are definitely unique and inspired. This show was inspired by Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton (who happens to be one of my favorite actors of all time). Check out the style.com page for a whole review of the show if you are interested in reading more about the inspiration for the concept. Check out the show here and my favorite looks from the show below:

Quick Interrupt: Spring 2011 Menswear

I know fashion shows are extremely fun to watch, but I also know that I don't know enough about fashion or the design industry to really critique or review them in the same way I might an editorial or ad campaign. However, I do love and appreciate the fashion shows and I've recently been catching up on all of the Spring 2011 Menswear shows. Aside from John Galliano (whom I will talk about in my next post) my favorite show was Vivienne Westwood. I just loved the paper-bag waists and the mix between tight and loose pants was just really fun.

What I really love about fashion shows is seeing the progression from look to look. It's the same thing as looking at an editorial spread and getting to see how everything relates to each other because of a common theme or idea and how each look is an interpretation of that larger concept.

I loved that the clothes from the Trussardi 1911 show were all so wearable and so perfectly tailored. All of the looks were casual but still extremely put together.

My favorite thing about the Gucci show was this layered collar and buckle. It made me want to see more variations on this detail, but unfortunately it was the only big collar.

Happy Anniversary - 22 Years!!

My parents were married 22 years ago today. They are amazing parents and are so full of love, not only for each other, but for their family and their passions in life. I have learned so much from them and I love them so much! Congratulations! Here are some older pictures of them. My parents are photographers so I am so lucky to have grown up surrounded by amazing images.
